The Luo Pan is used to precisely determine the orientation of a structure relative to magnetic north.

The Luo Pan contains eleven rings, which show the unique characteristics for a given orientation.  This allows Feng Shui practitioners to precisely determine the nature of a structure in many different dimensions.
